PowerPoint 2011 on a MacBook - Turning
Off Presenter View
If you try to show a PowerPoint 2011presentation using
your projector and SmartBoard you may encounter an unforeseen problem. This
version of PowerPoint defaults to "Presenter View" when the software
becomes aware that a projector is attached to the laptop. In Presenter View,
the display through the projector is the full slideshow, but the view on the
laptop is different. It contains features such as presentation notes, timings,
and previews of the next slide. This might be convenient if all you were doing
was projecting the slideshow and advancing the slideshow via the laptop, but if
you are also trying to interact with the SmartBoard, it can wreak havoc.

There is a
solution to this problem. While your projector is NOT connected to the laptop,
and the laptop's resolution is set to 1024x768 (Widescreen or Stretched), you
can select SlideShow from the PowerPoint ribbon (an optional toolbar that can
be selected to view), and then select the Mirror Show option within the ribbon.
Please note: this option does NOT show up if the projector is connected to the
laptop, or if the resolution is not in Widescreen or Stretched mode.
